Boise Film Festival Announces New Executive Director

BOISE, ID - Over the next year, Melinda Quick will transition into the Executive Director role at Boise Film Festival (BFF). The former Marketing Director and Website/Graphic Designer at BFF, Ms. Quick is an Idaho-grown documentary filmmaker, producer and animator. While most of her work in film has transitioned towards her organizational role with BFF in the past two years, she began filmmaking while studying abroad in Florence, Italy, during her senior year at Sarah Lawrence College (New York).

After exploring Italian film, she returned to New York to study producing, animation, and the history of film before graduating in May 2012. Ms. Quick has worked on her own films as well as with various groups and projects in New York, South Africa, England and Idaho.

She says, “I am grateful to be transitioning into this new role and continuing to grow the Boise Film Festival so we can best serve and inspire our community. BFF quickly became the perfect route for me to impact and encourage film production in Idaho while expanding upon my skills in filmmaking, marketing, event organization, and publicity. I look forward to taking the Festival to new heights throughout the next few years.”

Founded in 2015 by local filmmaker/producer/actress and Idaho film advocate, Lana Westbrook, BFF is in its third year of providing low-cost film screenings of feature films, documentaries, and short films as well as networking, outreach and educational opportunities for the Treasure Valley. Throughout 2017, Ms. Quick and Ms. Westbrook will be working to further the mission and vision of BFF as well as establish a Board of Directors for the Festival.

BFF supports and promotes film arts within the local community and for filmmakers and their audiences worldwide. The Festival is proud to showcase new creative talents as well as provide an interactive experience where the community can come together to share ideas, showcase their work, and discuss the future of the Idaho film industry. BFF celebrates innovative and original filmmaking in one of the most thought provoking, entertaining, fun-filled, educational film festivals with the mission of establishing a production fund for film in Idaho.

Through sharing the tradition each coming year, Boise Film Festival plans to greatly foster growth, collaboration, and worldwide acclaim for Idaho’s film industry.
