First Inaugural Boise Film Festival Comes to Idaho

BOISE, ID- The weekend of September 25-27, 2015, Boise will transform from the City of Trees into the City of Film thanks to the arrival of the inaugural Boise Film Festival. Showcasing films from around the world to bring filmmakers together with local businesses, the Festival aims to shine a spotlight on the Treasure Valley and all of Idaho for it’s value as a film production destination.

Founded by Lana Westbrook, local Producer, Actress and Idaho Film Advocate, the Festival will provide low cost film screenings of feature films, documentaries, and short films as well as offer networking, outreach and educational opportunities for attendees. Films come from around the world as well as from native filmmakers of all ages. In an effort to support local talent and collaborate with other artists to cultivate and foster the film industry in Idaho, Westbrook and her team hope the Festival will eventually be able to establish a production fund for film in Idaho.

This fund will serve as a resource for filmmakers throughout Idaho and will assist to develop year-round educational outreach to inspire learning and expand the knowledge of cinema and the appreciation of the filmmaking process. By becoming a positive force in Idaho with its inaugural year and through sharing the tradition each coming year, Boise Film Festival plans to greatly foster growth, collaboration, and world-wide acclaim for the Idaho’s film industry.
